Catches of Atlantic butterfish have been very limited. Annual production on our trawler's has been between 200 and 1500 MT. We normally produce limited quantities of Atlantic butterfish from September to April. The fat content is best in the winter months of December, January, and February.
The grading of our butterfish is 50-200 grams. All sizes of our butterfish are packed together in the same block. After unloading the trawlers, we defrost a number of cartons and then weigh every fish individually. From the same data, we calculate the selling price based on our sample reports which indicates the percentage of fish in each size category. |
